Iowa Trip!

This weekend Jason and I finally made the trip down to Iowa to see our precious little nephew, Connor! Jason has been working on the City of Saint Paul’s website redesign since September, but they were supposed to launch it every Friday in March (it kept getting pushed back) so finally it was launched on the 28th and we headed down on the 29th. Of course he had quite a few phone calls Friday night and Saturday morning, but after he straightened those out we could just relax and enjoy the ride.

This time I played d.j. Jason usually has his Zune out playing whichever songs he wants and then trying to get me to guess who is playing. Like I ever listened to the Postal Service, Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins etc. This time though, I grabbed the Zune and was able to play what I wanted to, although he doesn’t have the best music selection. I asked for a Zune for my birthday, I figured I am worth it! For anyone who has no clue what a Zune is, it is like an ipod but it is through Microsoft and so much better than an ipod, sorry Nicole but it is true!

We got down to Iowa around noon on Saturday and finally see the little baby. The pictures don’t do him justice, he is so much cuter in person and so much littler! He has no chub whatsoever, but he sure is long! He had his eyes open and was kicking and trying to stick his fist into his mouth. He never cried, okay, maybe a ½ second cry but then he was back to being content or watching the fish on the swing. The more I looked at him, the more he looked like Kevin. It is so funny how babies have their own look but at the same time have their parents look. Sarah looked great, which sucks. She looks better than she did before she gave birth, why does that happen? Apparently, I need to give birth so I can start looking good ;) Joking aside, she did look great and had the new mom glow. I expected her to have bags under her eyes and still in her pajamas, but maybe that is just what is going to happen to me…..but she looked fabulous.

We stayed until Sunday around noon. It was definitely not long enough. I could have held Connor all day. He is such a good baby. Typically what happens when you see babies is 1) they cry all the time and you get sick of them quickly but then their parents say the baby is never like this and is always good, but you don’t believe that or 2) the baby is good all the time and doesn’t cry at all, except for a minute when he/she needs to be changed or is hungry, the parents say the baby is never that good, but you don’t believe that either. Can you believe that Kevin & Sarah actually admitted that they had a very laid back, easy going baby? I was shocked too! I am sure he cries enough but it sounds like he is sleeping through the night already, and he seems content so I am sure he is a really good baby. If I have a really good baby I am going to tell everyone that the baby cries all the time and I can barely get any sleep, I can’t do anything around the house! That way, people will want to come over and clean for me, maybe cook and babysit! I have it all worked out ;)

I have a ton of pictures of Connor, so as soon as I can I will get them up on the blog. You will think he is adorable too. He said he loves his Auntie Lindsay….I can tell I will be his favorite!!
