Easter!

Jason and I headed down to my parents for Easter. They invited us, so we went. The Easter bunny did not even come to our house. I was pretty disappointed in Jason the Easter bunny We arrived at mom and dads around noon and ate. The meal was delicious! The ham was great! The conversation was better! Oh, and the Easter baskets mom and dad left out for us on the fireplace landing, was the best! When we were kids our baskets were always on the fireplace. We always, always received Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs. Nasty! Every year I would complain because I hated Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and did not want the Egg, and every year Matthew would eat it for me, but the next year would come and low and behold that stupid Egg was in the basket! Well, after 25 years my parents finally remembered I hate the Egg and I did not receive it! Wow, they really do love me!

We ate our baskets and sat around the table playing games. I started to think about when I was growing up and remembering our Easter tradition, besides the basket of course Lets see….I remember Saturday night going to bed really mad and cranky because I needed to get up at a ridiculous hour (probably around 3:00 a.m, but it might have been 5:00/6:00 a.m.), get dressed in my beautiful Easter dress (I liked the dressing up part) and head off to church, where I would really love to sleep because it was boring and I was tired, but I would have to sit next to my dad to make sure I wouldn’t fall asleep. Nicole and Matthew would get to sit by each other and then my dad would sit next to Matthew and I would be on the other side of my dad. My dad was smart. He remembers all the times in church when the three of us kids sat together and I was usually the one writing notes to Nicole or doing something funny. He didn’t become an expert on the “Stop that this second or you die” look until I was born, trust me I was scared for my life when I saw that look! So, we were separated. Mom would sit on the other side of Nicole, dad probably forced her way over there so I couldn’t whisper to mom or try and pretend cry to be over by her! After church is about the time I would start to pep up! We would go downstairs at church where they served breakfast. After breakfast back home, eat lunch and then eat candy the rest of the day! Oh, the fun times.

Happy Easter!
