Baby and Cravings and Dreams, Oh My!
Dreams:
Apparently being pregnant means you get lots of dreams, and very realistic to boot!
The first dream that I can remember occurred about 14 or 16 weeks along. I had a dream that Jason was cheating on me with a redhead! I actually woke up in the middle of the night, my heart pounding because in my dream he had been cheating on me - with a redhead in a green shirt! The best part, Jason has a baby app on his phone and literally the very next day his app said I would start to dream about my spouse cheating on me! It was the weirdest thing ever. Luckily, I haven't had anymore of those dreams.
A week ago I had a dream that I was lifting a toddler boy, which I knew was my son, out of a crib possibly and handing him over to Jason. He had on this cute blue outfit, he had light brown hair, which was curly and standing up all over his head! I pray my baby boy doesn't have curly hair - curly hair is horrible to have, trust me.
About three days ago I had a dream about McDonald's cheeseburger with extra pickles. I have no idea why I had this dream. I have not had McDonald's in a LONG time, but apparently some part of me wants a cheeseburger with extra pickles.
Last night I had a very weird dream. I gave birth to a baby girl, I remember seeing her in my arms and then all of a sudden she became a puppy. The puppy looked a lot like Sampson (our dog) but I was so worried that I had given birth to a puppy and what would people say about that? Should I tell people I gave birth to a puppy or should I tell them I didn't have a baby? In my dream I was contemplating what I should do/tell people. This dream happened the day before my 20 week ultrasound. I woke up thinking maybe I had been wrong for 20 weeks and I wasn't having a boy, maybe I was having a girl. That thought didn't last long, I was still 99.9% sure I was having a boy...call it mother instinct if you want, I have no clue why I have told everyone that I am so certain I'm having a boy.
Cravings:
After about 12 or so weeks I finally started getting my appetite back. It probably all started when Jason told me I was going to eat an egg for breakfast. I could not eat an egg or think about eating an egg, or heck, think of eggs without wanting to run to the toilet. Luckily I kept the egg down and it was actually tasty too.
My first craving, if you could even call it that, was for anything to be freezing cold. I had to have ice water all the time. I couldn't stomach water that wasn't cold. The first thing I'd do in the morning is grab tons of ice for my water and just sip that baby down.
I've had a lot of cravings for fruit. I loved freezing cold grapes that would pop in my mouth or freezing cold apples. Now I'm back to apples. I could eat three apples a day and be completely satisfied, but they no longer have to be freezing cold. Mmm, just typing about apples makes me want to go eat one.
Lately I have been craving milk. Ice cold milk. I love having a big glass in the morning and afternoon. I gulp that down so quickly and then you get the coolest feeling when you can feel the cold move down to your stomach. Milk is so good. Only white milk though. I tried chocolate milk but I don't like it as much.
I also noticed that I don't have such a sweet tooth anymore. I have absolutely no cravings for candy, which is odd. If I could have, I would have eaten a million candy bars a day, but since I've been pregnant I have zero hunger for candy. My mom came over two weeks ago and left a bag of Kit-Kats here, there are still Kit-Kats sitting in a bowl on the table. That would not have happened 21 weeks ago.
Actually I've noticed my appetite has changed quite a bit. I'm not as hungry as I was pre-pregnancy. I eat when I'm hungry, but I cannot eat very large portions. I would actually say I'm eating a lot less now than I was before. This must be the reason why I lost 5 pounds in the last month. I can't help it. Jason got after me for losing weight, but I'm really not trying to lose weight....as I said, I eat when I'm hungry. My doctor did say he wanted to start seeing a nice increase in weight from now on.
Speaking of appetite, although I'm not hungry a lot of the time, when I do get a hungry I get hungry fast. I'll be driving feeling good and literally .00001 seconds later I'm STARVING. Yes, starving as in I haven't eaten in a week, even though it has probably been 2 hours. Jason has been so nice to keep a bag of cashews in the car at all times for me so I can munch on. If I don't eat quickly enough I start to feel sick, so those cashews help a lot.
Baby:
Last but not least, Reidstad. I've been feeling him move for maybe two weeks. Rather, I 'think' I feel him move. I can feel this twitter or butterfly, some odd feelings in my lower abdomen that I think must be Reidstad.
Really quick, we had the 20 week ultrasound today (I'll do a post about it once I get the pictures scanned) and his head is down like he's ready to be done in there and come out. He must be just like Jason, always doing everything by the book and making sure he's in place way ahead of schedule. Just please don't make him love the mornings like Jason does! He is stubborn though because they couldn't get the best pictures of his heart and placenta because he would NOT MOVE! That means he has some Norstad in him :)
