Movie Review for "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian"

[I warned you] Lindsay and I both saw the first movie a couple of years ago, “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and we absolutely treasured the movie and fell in love with the siblings, stars and epic heroes of the film, Edmund, Lucy, Peter and Susan who become the Kings and Queens of Narnia. In this new film by the same director with the same cast of main characters I mentioned before, the siblings now take a backseat to a new main character and seem to take on a supporting role? Or not? In any case they seemed to take on a less important part, and I think that was a big mistake.

Unfortunately, there was little character development for the new star, Prince Caspian, in fact, what development there was for this character left me actually hating him, if for no other reason, because he steals the thunder of the siblings you came to love from the first movie. I mean, they are still the Kings and Queens of Narnia, the epic heroes, and the ending of this new movie was underwhelming for them.

If you didn’t see the first movie you might like this second one, however, you will miss a lot of history if you skip the fist film.

This movie did well in the box office for one reason. The first movie was fantastic and those of us who saw the first movie were expecting another outstanding heroic film. I predict that the final film slated for 2010, “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” will suffer even if it turns out to be a great film simply because the last one was a let down to the base of fans of the first movie.
