The Rocking Chair!

A few weekends ago, Dad and Mom brought up Daniel's new rocking chair. Jason and I were both blown away by how gorgeous it is! Dad really did a fantastic job.  I keep telling him he should start a business and sell his furniture. Yes, he did make the rocking chair. Oh, and another thing that makes this chair so very special (besides the fact that Grandpa made this for Daniel AND Grandpa and Daniel share the same birthday!) the chair is made out of black walnut from the black walnut tree that Dad, Mom, Nicole and Matthew helped us take down in our backyard a few years ago!

Back in November Jerry and Carole generously offered to purchase a glider for us and the baby - that would eventually be known as Daniel :)  We passed on their offer because we really didn't think we needed a glider. A few months later Nicole said she was getting rid of her rocking chair and wanted to know if we wanted it. I really didn't think we needed it but if she was getting rid of it we might as well take it just because it would be nice to have. Mom overheard this conversation and told me that we would not need to take Nicole's because Dad may just be working on one to give Baby Reid.  At the time I actually thought she was joking, but as you can see she was not!

Surprisingly, now that we have a rocking chair in his room I use it all the time! Before bed I sit in it and rock Daniel while telling him the story of the Prince. It is about a Prince who grows up in Iowa, goes into the Army, then goes to college, moves to a big city, meets and marries his Princess and eventually they have a sweet little baby boy....sound familiar? He seems to like it because by the time the Prince is married to the Princess he is usually out.

This will be a great piece for Daniel to rock his children in one day. Okay, now I have to stop thinking about him being big and having his own children before I start to tear up :)

Thank you Grandpa!
