Christmas Shopping!

As I have mentioned in previous blogs, Jason and I are cutting back on the gifts to enjoy the reason for Christmas, spending time with friends and family and slowing down. Well, we still need to buy gifts, so that is what we did this weekend. I always try to include Jason when shopping but I always seem to regret it after the first five malls! I started Friday right after work, I typically get off around noon so my first stop was Target. I know, I really need to ban Target. They are a Minnesota company and I should shop there, but if I really wanted to spend that much money on items I would go to Bloomingdale’s, at least their quality is better. I have banned Macy’s, and I believe a lot of people are on the same page with. I LOVE Dayton’s and Marshall Fields. Why did they have to leave us? Macy’s is no longer credible with me. I tell Jason that if I can get a Martha Stewart item at Kmart (or Kame-a-part) or at Macy’s, that just seems wrong. It is comparable to buying The Olsen’s twins items at Walmart or Bloomingdale’s. Anyways, I am not the CEO so who cares.

Well, I can’t name every store I went to, but I went to 5 that day with Jason and didn’t get home until 5:30 that night. I was exhausted. I had about half of my shopping done and Jason was already crabby, great. I start wrapping gifts and wrap all night long. I am pretty sure I stayed up for an ABC Family movie and went to bed around midnight. I am addicted to the ABC Family and Lifetime or Hallmark Christmas Movies. Yes, I have seen many of the same movies 365 days ago but I still love them.

On Sunday we were up and out by 11:00 am, ready to cross everything off our list. We ran to the Maplewood Mall, then to Southdale, back up to Roseville, over to Maplewood Mall and ending at Target. By Southdale, which was only 2 hours into our shopping Jason was already crabby. He told me that next year we are going to start shopping for Christmas in August and we are going to do it all online. I said okay, I will just let him do all the online shopping. I think that is a great plan. Although we technically shop together, I am usually the one that makes the decision on what to buy and what not to buy, so next year I am going to hand him a blank piece of paper and a pen and tell him to start making lists and ordering great deals online. I am sure if I did that, we would have nothing under the tree and no gifts for anyone. Just think how stressful it would be shopping on Christmas Eve?

I am not completely done, I still have a few items left for Mom, Dad, Matthew and Grandma. I have a few stocking stuffers I need to get Jason for Santa. Since Santa is so busy this time of year he asked me to pick up a few items!! I cannot believe that Christmas is going to be here in 14 days!! Time sure does fly.
