Reid Christmas!

Jason and I headed down to Iowa to Jerry & Carole’s home for the Reid Christmas on Friday, the 14th! We usually take the day off since it is a six hour drive and Jason would LOVE to get up around 4:00 am and hit the road by 6:00 am, but I am more of a sleep in since we have the day off, type of girl! We do compromise though and are usually on the road between 8:00 am and 9:00am. We always have to take a little detour down to my parents home to drop off Sampson, our beagle. He loves spending the weekend with Grandpa and Grandma Norstad, although I don’t know if Grammpy and Grammy really like him that much, but I think he keeps them entertained and on their toes.

The ride down was uneventful, which is always nice. Although I was speeding just a tad and there was a copy in the median, but with 10 feet of snow and ice (in Iowa they had a ton of ice the week before) I don’t think he could have even pulled out to stop me, but I slowed down after that.

We arrived at Jerry & Carole’s around 4:30ish pm. We unpacked and waited for Sarah & Kevin to arrive. I could not believe that it was Christmas weekend, well, not the real Christmas weekend but we were exchanging gifts already. For whatever reason, I did not get into the Christmas mood this year….it was just blah for me. Almost as though my head was spinning because time was going by too fast and I could not get into the holiday spirit.

Anyways…on with the story…Saturday, as usual, we had a huge meal, enough to feed the whole town!! It was delicious though. I always love the holidays because we eat such good food that we don’t eat during the year, so once the holidays come around again we are craving the food.

After cleanup we open gifts. We got way too much stuff, as usual! Jason was super excited to get the new digital photo frame from Sarah & Kevin. I didn’t even know he wanted one! I suppose anything that has to do with technology, Jason just has to have! As soon as he received the gift, he immediately opened it and started playing around with it. It is in our loft now and he finally figured out how it works, although I don’t know if every time I come up stairs that I like to see a rotating picture frame of me every other picture!!

We left Sunday and made the long journey home. Jason was under the weather, his sinus’s/allergies were acting up. Oh, just a side note, Jason went to the doctor and they did an allergy test on him, he is allergice to cats, dogs, every type of mold except one, grass, pollens, dust….basically everything that we come into contact with on a daily basis…maybe even me :)
He didn’t feel good on the ride home and I wasn’t feeling especially well either, but I drove the 6 hours home. We stopped to pick up Sampson at mom and dads and headed home.
