Wedding Anniversary!
Okay, we have been told by unnamed sources that we need to update our blog. I am sure there are only about two people that actually read it, but this goes out to you two....you know who you are :)
Jason and I celebrated our four year anniversary, May 22nd. Can you believe that we made it this far? I know, me neither! My new motto is get a new husband every five years. That being said, Jason will only get one more year with me. He started celebrating about a week ago and has a countdown :)
Oh, don’t feel sad for Jason, he will find another wonderful, perfect, beautiful woman, like myself (lol) before you know it! I, on the other hand, will not be as lucky. You see, men can find women no matter what age they are at, it’s true. The older the women get the less appealing they are to men. I am no cougar by any means, being 26 1/3, but I am not an 18 year old either.
Wow, this may be harder than I thought, finding another husband....I may just stick with Jason for another 100 years!
I remember our wedding day like it was yesterday. Yes, I am going to do a run down for everyone even if it will bore you to death!
We were married on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 4:00p.m. at Saint Ansgar’s Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, MN. I remember I had to get up bright and early in the morning, which isn’t appealing to me, even on my wedding day. I think I was up at 5:00 a.m. About the 3rd time in my life that I have been up that early. I had to get up that early because I had to shave my legs, nothing like waiting until the last minute, I know, but if you know me that pretty much sums up who I am! I was out the door around 7:00 a.m. and met Nicole and Jennifer to get our hair done downtown. Sarah was all crabby and didn’t want to get her hair done with me, don’t know what her problem way :) I kid, I kid! After we got our hair done we went to my Grandma Lundell’s (a/k/a Gram). My bangs looked awful so I tried to use Gram’s curling iron and $1 hair spray and it didn’t do the trick. Of course the moment we got there, around 11:00a.m., Gram was trying to shove food down our throat (If you know my Gram this is what she always does). She finally made some hot dogs and goulash and we ate our little lunch. After that I had to put my makeup on and then had to put Gram’s makeup on. I know, nothing like having to put makeup on Grandma on my wedding day, but I figured she needed to look good to. I remember when we left it was sprinkling outside and I was hoping it wouldn’t ruin my bangs, but it didn’t. I guess the $1 hair spray didn’t hold up to well. It was a little humid out, which completely destroy’s my hair anways. We got to the church, changed and hung out. The florist came with the flowers and the photographer was shooting away pictures. The last few hours are a blur, many photos and I remember my mouth muscles hurting from so many pictures. My bangs, looked like crap but I couldn’t help it. Then the wedding starts! I was nervous. The bagpipe goes in first and I think it scared many people! The bagpipes were Jason’s idea, he had to get something Irish in! The wedding goes off without a hitch. Okay, maybe not. There was just a little mistake, caused by non other than me. I didn’t practice, read and/or study my vows. I figured it was a piece of cake. I’ve gone to weddings and could recite them no problem, it is just standard language. At the rehearsal I made Jason repeat the vows but figured I was good to go. So, we are standing up there, Jason said his vows no problemo. The pastor turns to me and everything is going smoothly until I swear he starts speaking really fast. I couldn’t understand him, so I pause. After about 10 seconds I figured the pastor would get the hint and repeat them. Nope. He must have thought I was crying, who knows. So, being me, I laugh a little bit and ask him to repeat it. Jason starts laughing, okay everyone starts laughing with me, or maybe at me. The rest of the wedding is wonderful. Although Nicole did make me cry when she was singing.
The reception was wonderful. We were running a little bit behind schedule when we arrived at Hastings Country Club but we took more pictures and finally were able to eat! I will say, I did tell the planner/coordinator that I wanted the whole table to get the Bavarian cream filled cake, but we didn’t. Some had raspberry, some had plain white, but I guess Jason and I did get Bavarian cream and that is all that matters. I remember Dawn telling me I needed some lipstick so I borrowed hers and broke it. Oops. I guess I do owe her a new lipstick still. We left the reception around midnight. Got home and slept until 4:00 a.m. when Jerry (Jason’s dad) picked us up and brought us to the airport for our very very very early flight to Maui. It was a nice two week vacation!
So, for all you bridezillas out there, just relax. The day goes by and it doesn’t have to be perfect. This day isn’t about the material objects but about two people loving each other and committing the rest of their lives together. My mom told me that, I guess it was in her Mother of the Bride book Ilene gave her. Although mom didn’t read much of it because she told me if I was sassy she would just sass back.
The REM concert, see below, was my gift to Jason for our anniversary. We are trying to plan a FIVE year anniversary trip to England for two weeks. Visit London, Ireland, Scottland, that will be fun!
I will try to get pictures up of our wedding! Maybe tonight, wouldn’t that be great if I actually did get pictures up tonight! Lol :)
P.S. Oh, Nicole is going to kill me for this! The morning of the wedding Nicole put Nair to remove her armpit hair. The first time not all of it came off so she did it again and got a chemical burn. The dresses were sleeveless so the dress went right by her armpit and she was in a lot of pain! It is a funny story, looking back! I remember they were just bright red! So, when using Nair, read the instructions, do not use twice! :)
