Yankee Doodle!

My mom, sister and I went to see Yankee Doodle on Sunday, August 10th at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in Saint Paul. It was moms treat, isn't she just so nice of a mother :) We met at Nicole's. I guess I was running late because they were both in the car waiting for me. I was 1 minute late, but Nicole always likes to be a little early, okay a lot early. Maybe she doesn't realize that we have tickets so no one can get our seat? Maybe she likes to sit and read over the little pamphlet that they hand out with worthless information on it about upcoming, crappy events coming up? Who knows.
We were in the Mezzanine to the side of the stage in huge royalty chairs! I love it. They were so much more comfortable than the regular (auditorium) chairs. We could move them and they were wood. Mom and I moved our chairs next to each other so I had to lean on her to see over the side. Nicole doesn't sit by mom because mom will start humming, or she smacks her gum. Yes, she did both. Actually she didn't hum, she sang, and loudly. I am no longer embarrassed by this because I figure life is too short not to live it and singing along is nothing to be embarrassed about. At our funerals will people say I can't believe she sang at Yankee Doodle? No. Life is so short you can't worry about what other people think, and really it isn't your business to know what others think about you. I really believe that.
Okay, on with the show :) I will say that I really enjoyed the music. I thought I knew maybe one or two songs by George Cohan but I actually knew a lot. I couldn't hear a few of the actors very well but the show was very good. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area (click here), if you like older music. I want to see the film "Yankee Doodle Dandy" now.
Afterwards we went out to Applebee's and then headed to Nicole's. Mom had to research if some actress was related to Rosemary Clooney. I don't think she ever found out.
I always have such a fun time hanging out with Mom and Nicole. Thanks for the GREAT day! I then went home and watched Olympics until midnight :)
